Final Submission

I haven't changed anything on my cover since Quarter 3 and I'm happy with they way it ended up looking. All fonts, colors, and pictures remained the same.

The TOC is almost the same as Q3. The only difference is there is a slightly different glow behind the letters are I made the words bigger to stand out more. I also added PREVIEW to the top right corner.

I decided to change the color of the letters back to white because I hated the way the purple looked. I made a border around the words to make them pop more without bolding them. I changed the font of the branding "@fleursombre" and "fleursombre.com" to stand out more and positioned them in the corners of each page.

I did the same thing with the second page of the article with making the letters stick out more and with the branding.

This is my final version of the magazine.

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in this project?

I used Microsoft Publisher to craft my magazine. I used the standard features on it to format my font, to pick my color schemes, and to format my article. I had used Publisher in the past and I was fairly comfortable with it so I decided to use it as my main editing device for my magazine. I was between either using Publisher or InDesign, but I felt more comfortable using Publisher.

I also used a Nikon camera to take the pictures for my magazine. I have used a camera similar in the past so I was very comfortable using it. All my pictures used were taken by me and I told the people in the pictures the poses to do. Some pictures were very well shot, but the lighting was a bit off compared to the rest of my pictures. To fix this, I used Adobe Lightroom. I fixed the lighting and contrast in these pictures to make it easier to see and to make it have better quality. I didn't use lightroom on all the pictures, only the ones that needed to be fixed up a bit.

Lastly, Blogger has been very instrumental in documenting my process of magazine making. It has been very easy to use and it details all of my progressions in learning and crafting Fleur Sombre. I'm overall very pleased with my experiences with using these tools to construct my own magazine, Fleur Sombre.

How did your production skills develop throughout this product?

When I first began to make my magazine, I had no idea where to start or how to use many of the applications. Luckily, my friend Ethan was familiar with these applications and helped me get started. Once I did get started, I started to learn all the bells and whistles of Microsoft Publisher.

I tried using Adobe InDesign initially, but I was more familiar with Microsoft controls and I felt more comfortable using Microsoft Publisher. I knew simple controls like how to make a text box and how to change the font, but I also learned how to format the pages to conform to my picture arrangements and how to format my background as a picture.

Something important I also learned was how to coordinate events for my magazine. I had to set up all my photo shoots and search for suitable shots to shoot. I immediately thought a good photo shoot would be at the top of the Weston hotel in downtown of my city to get a sunset in the background and to get the water, as well. This ended up being where I took pictures and I found a date for my friend to help me take pictures for it. I ended up needing more pictures later, so I got two more friends to meet me at a hill in my town and take pictures with the hill in the background.

Overall, I liked having the executive decisions with my magazines and coordinating events and I give more respect to those who do this for a living.
